Tour itinerary: Gondar → Debark → Gondar
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Gondar to the Simien Mountains National Park. Before reaching the campsite, you'll be dropped off for a gentle 2-hour trek along the edge of the dramatic Simien escarpment.
Along the way, enjoy sweeping views of the rugged terrain and encounter large troops of Gelada monkeys, known for their red chests and expressive social behavior.
Spend your first night under the stars at Sankabar Camp (3,250m), surrounded by pristine highland beauty.
Set off on a 6-hour trek to Gich Camp, one of the most picturesque routes in the park.
The trail leads you past Jinibar Waterfall, cutting through deep gorges and highland meadows.
Watch for endemic birdlife and the colorful plant life unique to this elevation.
Arrive at Gich Camp (3,600m) in the afternoon and relax in the peaceful alpine environment.
This is one of the most breathtaking days of the trek. Begin with a climb to Imet Gogo, where you're rewarded with panoramic views of jagged peaks, vast cliffs, and plunging valleys.
Continue across the Gich Plateau, where giant Lobelia plants grow in abundance.
As you approach Chennek Camp (3,620m), keep an eye out for Walia ibex, Gelada monkeys, and—if you're lucky—the rare Ethiopian wolf.
Trekking time: approximately 9 hours.
Today, you’ll ascend Ras Bwahit, Ethiopia’s second-highest peak. The climb is challenging but deeply rewarding, offering unforgettable views over the Simien range and beyond.
After summiting, descend back to Chennek Camp for a well-earned rest.
This day is a true highlight for trekkers seeking altitude, achievement, and unmatched scenery.
Take a short morning hike around Chennek to soak in the final views and maybe spot a few more wildlife sightings.
After breakfast, begin your drive back to Gondar, reflecting on your incredible journey through one of Africa’s most spectacular mountain ranges.
